Details Modules
When you open a USN, survey, or project record in CRIS, a details module will display. This module will contain information about the record and include links to related records. Below is an image of the USN Details module, which illustrates the basic format.
- Header: Brief attributes of the record, including the name, identifying number, type, and status (if applicable).
- Overview tab: The default tab when the module displays. This contains additional attributes about the record’s status on the left and an expandable map interface on the right.
- Other tabs: More details about the record are grouped into a series of tabs, such as MCDs (minor civil divisions, including cities, towns, and villages) and attachments.
There are three main types of details modules:
- USN Details: Used for buildings, structures, objects, sites (above-ground and archaeological), and districts (historic and archaeological).
- Survey Details: Used for building and archaeological surveys, as well as Trekker surveys and survey districts, which are historic districts that were inventoried through building surveys and may be certified by the Secretary of the Interior.
-
Project Details: Used for projects that are reviewed or recorded by SHPO. These modules are distinguished by project type.
- Consultation Project Details: The most common type of project reviewed by SHPO. These typically result in a finding letter from SHPO under New York State Historic Preservation Act Section 14.09 or National Historic Preservation Act Section 106. SHPO also provides comments for CEQR and SEQR projects through the consultation process. See SHPO’s Environmental Review page for more information on these programs.
- Independent Survey Project Details: Building and archaeological surveys that are not conducted as part of a consultation project.
- Eligibility Evaluation Project Details: Requests for SHPO’s evaluation of a historic resource’s eligibility for the New York State Register and National Register of Historic Places. This process does not result in an impact or effect finding letter (see Consultation Project Details above). It also does not result in the nomination of the resource for listing on the State or National Register, though an eligibility evaluation can be a preliminary step before proceeding with a National Register nomination.
- National Register Project Details: Nominations of buildings, structures, districts, or other cultural resources to the New York State Register and National Register of Historic Places. See SHPO’s National Register page for more information on this program.
- Inventory Form Project Details: Reviews of individually submitted records for buildings, structures, and other above-ground resources. SHPO may add the submitted data to CRIS through a new or existing USN record. This process is informal and is not intended to result in an eligibility evaluation, nomination, or finding.
- Tax Credit Project Details: Reviews of applications for state or federal tax credits for the rehabilitation of historic properties. See SHPO’s Tax Credit Programs page for more information on these programs.
