Criteria Search
The Criteria tab on the Search page contains a series of tabs with options for searching the CRIS database.
- Lookup: Search for a record by its identifying number, such as 08101.007212 for a USN (Unique Site Number).
- USN: Search for buildings, structures, objects, sites, and districts, which are identified using SHPO’s Unique Site Number (USN) format. This tab includes advanced search options.
- Survey: Search for surveys of built resources or archaeological investigations. This tab includes advanced search options.
- National Register: Search for listings on the New York State Register and National Register of Historic Places. Nomination documents will be included in these records. This tab includes advanced search options.
- Project: Search for projects that have been reviewed by SHPO or are currently under review. This tab is generally only available to preservation personnel in state and federal agencies. This tab includes advanced search options.
- Library: Search the CRIS Library for miscellaneous scanned documents, such as archaeological bibliography sheets.
Each tab includes a Search button to apply your search criteria and a Reset button to clear the search fields in that tab only. Also, each Criteria Search tab is independent of the other tabs, so when you switch between search tabs, your search criteria in each tab will not reset.
