Surveys provide information to SHPO reviewers and researchers about buildings, structures, objects, sites, and districts throughout New York State. If you have an architectural or archaeological survey that was conducted as part of a project being reviewed by SHPO, you must submit it in response to a survey request issued by SHPO as part of a consolidated response. SHPO may also request a new architectural survey using the Trekker suite of mobile survey applications.
The requested survey forms allow you to submit a building survey, archaeological survey, or Trekker survey proposal, depending on which type the SHPO reviewer requested. When you click the Process (green cog) button, the correct survey form will open in a new CRIS Submit browser tab.
For more details about each survey type and the steps involved, please see the Requested Archaeological Survey, Requested Building Survey, and Trekker Survey Submission sections below.
When you are ready to send your submission to SHPO, click the Submit to SHPO button in the lower right corner to send the submission to SHPO’s processing queue. The survey request’s status will change to Completed. A thank-you message will pop up in CRIS and a “Requested Submission Received” email will be sent to the project contacts and the survey preparer.
If SHPO needs more information or revisions before they will accept your submission, they will send a “Requested Submission Notification” email to the project contacts and the survey preparer. This email will include SHPO’s comments on what needs to be changed or added.
To edit the submission, go to the consolidated response page that contains the request and click the Process (green cog) button to reopen the survey form. If you are an authenticated user and a project contact, you can reopen the response page from the My Information Requests or My Consolidated Responses tab on your dashboard. Be sure to resend the submission to SHPO when you have finished making changes.
When SHPO accepts your survey, a “Requested Submission Accepted” email will be sent to the project contacts and the survey preparer. The new survey record will be added to the project.
