Working with Proposed Districts

Trekker 2.0 allows users to create Proposed Districts as part of their survey project. This includes the ability to:

Trace/digitize the district boundary on a map;

Enter comprehensive data about the district (e.g., physical summary, statement of significance, etc.)

Capture and associate streetscape photos to the district

Upload document attachments that are related to the district

Capture and link individual building inventory forms to the district

Each Trekker Survey project can have as many proposed districts as necessary. While a Survey123 form exists for proposed districts, they must be created in Manager. Once a Proposed District is created, Survey123 can be used to edit the proposed district data in the field using the Survey123 Inbox. The most common function of using Survey123 for editing districts is to capture streetscape photos of the district.

Building Inventory Forms are automatically "assigned" to Proposed Districts based on their location being within a district boundary. That is, once a proposed district is created within a Trekker Survey project, inventory forms are automatically assigned to a district if their point falls within the district.

It is important to note that Proposed Districts must be submitted to SHPO for approval. That is, once the consultant has entered all the relevant data and collected street scape photos for a proposed district, it should be submitted to SHPO for approval.

Districts should be collected and submitted for approval as early in the survey project as possible. This is due to the fact that buildings that fall within a proposed district are automatically linked to the district based on geography. Moreover, when SHPO loads buildings into CRIS, if the building is linked to a proposed district, it is automatically loaded into CRIS linked to the district (this saves SHPO effort by having the building linked to the district prior to loading).
